How is your local independent insurance agency different from a large direct writer insurance company?
We have the ability to provide our clients with quotes from our national and regional carriers, which include Travelers, Progressive, Hanover, Metlife, Nationwide, Plymouth Rock, Providence Mutual, Chubb, Safeco, Bunker Hill, Foremost, State Auto and provide you with our best available coverage and pricing. A captive agency or direct writer is only able to provide you a quote with a single source. If a carriers rates change from year to year for any reason, we are able to remarket the account and try to find something more competitive.
Do you charge any fees for your services?
No, we do not charge any fees for our service. We are paid a commission by the carrier.
Does your agency handle billing, provide late notices or cancel notices?
No, all our carriers handle billing and all other policy communications directly. Our agency doesn't provide any billing, late, cancel or intent to cancel notices. We can when contacted provide information or help with billing questions. We do encourage customers to set up automatic payments and online accounts to stay informed and up to date with their policies.
Does your Agency handle Claims?
No, all our carriers handle claims directly. We are appointed with some of the best carriers in the US, who have outstanding teams to provide the best claim service available. If a need arises, we can help with any questions, provide guidance and always help to facilitate any resolution.
What types of insurance does Preferred offer?
We are a full service agency and specialize in personal lines, which include Home, Auto, Umbrella, Motorcycle, Boat etc. We write some commercial property and casualty for small businesses, which include General Liability, Umbrella, Commercial Auto, and Worker’s Compensation etc. We also offer Medicare supplement, life insurance and disability insurance.
What if I need to make a change after hours?
The majority of our carriers do offer extended, and weekend hours. In the event the carrier does not, we are able to get anything dated for a weekend date as long as we are notified during the week.
Do I need to come in for a quote or to write a policy?
Although we highly recommend and welcome a face to face meeting with our clients so we have the opportunity to get to know you better, we also appreciate how busy you are and we can obtain information via the telephone and electronically. We are able to send everything from quotes to application electronically so that an actual physical visit is never required for a quote or policy.
